History

UP Business Analysts' Society (UP BAS) is a university-wide acad-socio-political student organization in the University of the Philippines Diliman aiming to promote business in general and uphold management concepts as tools to advocate academic, social and political growth among the students of the university and the national community.

It was founded on July 19, 2008 by Marjowyn Vito, a student from the College of Business Administration. In its first semester of recruitment, it has already attracted hundreds of applicants with its online recruitment process wherein students were able to sign-up online. The organization had 67 members from different colleges in UP Diliman at the end of its first recruitment process.

As an academic organization, it holds management, marketing and advertising seminars aiming to transform classroom learnings to real life business application. More importantly, it uses creative marketing strategies and advertising techniques as tools to promote social change and revive a more effective and efficient form of activism in the university. UP BAS considers itself as a modern propaganda movement that uses business concepts in tackling social issues and making it known to the public.

UP BAS follows the South African concept Ubuntu, popularly known as "I am what I am because of who we all are." More than just an academic and political organization, it argues that UP BAS members shall be persons who are open and available to others and that they exist to be part of a greater whole.
