Dr. José Veloso Abueva is a Filipino educator, author, professor and civil servant. He is a former president of the University of the Philippines System, and currently president of Kalayaan College.
Abueva is also one of the 12 UP Centennial Fellows who participated in the UP Centennial Lecture Series as part of the centennial celebration of the Philippines' premier institution of higher learning. A Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) awardee for political science in 1962, he has devoted much of his career in academic circles.
He is a professor emeritus of political science and public administration and is closely associated with the U.P. UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG). The former U.P. president holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from tne University of Michigan.
Professor Abueva is the brother of National Artist Napoleon V. Abueva.
