International Conference on Postcolonial Praxis at the University of the Philippines Diliman
Dear Colleague:
We would like to invite you and your colleagues to attend The International Conference on Postcolonial Praxis: Theories, Cultural Practices and Movements for the Global South on 21–23 July 2010 at the National Institute for Science and Math Education (NISMED) auditorium at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
Plenary speakers include Professor Reynaldo C. Ileto of National University of Singapore, Dr. Owen J. Lynch Jr. and UPD University Professor Emeritus Gemino H. Abad.
Through this conference, we invite scholars from the humanities and social sciences, teachers, creative writers, journalists and broadcast media practitioners, studio, visual and performance artists, architects, design specialists and participants from other parts of the Philippines and from other former colonies /countries in the “Global South” (i.e., “underdeveloped” , “developing”, “Third World”, decolonizing societies) to re-examine and to re-territorialize Anglo-American, English, American, French, German, Dutch, Hispanic, Latin American Studies, programs and projects. Scholars from different universities abroad such as Kyoto University, Cardiff University, UC San Diego, University of Hawaii at Manoa, etc. will read papers during the simultaneous sessions.
The conference fee is P2,000 for students, P2,500 for early registration (by 30 June 2010) and P3,000 for onsite registration. There is a day conference fee of P1,000 for those who can only attend one day of the conference.
