Interactive Learning Center Up los banos,[[1]] The UP Board of Regents on its 1175th meeting held on September 25, 2003 approved the creation of an Interactive Learning Center (ILC) in every constituent university (CU). The INTERACTIVE LEARNING CENTER at UPLB was inaugurated January 26, 2005. Its missions are:

  1. to support the interactive learning process through the production of multimedia materials (also known as learning objects) primarily for undergraduate programs such as the GE courses,
  2. enforce the standard of quality in keeping with the academic practice of peer review,
  3. enhance faculty expertise, and
  4. implement policies and guidelines in the production of learning objects including the university policy on intellectual property rights.

The center’s main functions are to produce multimedia materials, monitor, and evaluate applications for and outcomes of instructional multimedia projects, ensure the accessibility of materials to students and faculty, organize training sessions on instructional technologies, maintain and upgrade equipments and facilities, and enforce policies that ensure the quality of materials. To realize its functions, ILC sponsors trainings for users who are not proficient with the necessary software. Moreover, the ILC Director accepts proposals from the faculty to develop learning objects (LOs) specially for courses with high enrollment, high attrition, high failure rate and core or appreciation courses that are best presented using interactive multimedia technology and for which no suitable learning object (foreign or local) are available.
