University of the Philippines Folklorists, Inc
The University of the Philippines Folklorists, Inc. or U.P. Folklorists, Inc. (UPFI) is a professional academic organization based in the University of the Philippines Diliman, especially in the College of Arts and Letters [CAL] and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy [CSSP]. At the moment, it is a faculty organization, but plans are underway to open membership or categories of membership to all. Faculty, students, REPS and staff in all of the constituent universities under the University of the Philippines System may soon be included. In addition, non-U.P. and ordinary citizens of the Republic of the Philippines may likewise join in recognition of the status of U.P. as a national university and the carriers/bearers of folklore in the country.

The U.P. Folklorists, Inc. spearheaded in September 2007 a five-day paggunita of the Philipppines' bagani/bayani (warriors/heroes folk/local/national) namely, the Pasundayag kina Heneral Macario Sakay at sa Katipunan, a centennial commemoration of the martyrdom of General Macario L. Sakay, Col. Lucio de Vega [September 13, 1907-2007] and the Katipunan during the Filipino-American War in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus such as Bulwagang Rizal, CAL Library, U.P. Main Library, U.P. Oblation, Quezon Hall, A.S. steps, Vinzons Hall front grounds, Melchor Hall steps, and the Academic Oval. Along with the National Historical Institute (NHI) and the bayanihan of several organizations on-and off-campus, a Task Force on the Death Centennary of General Macario L. Sakay was organized with Prof. Melecio C. Fabros, President, U.P. Folklorists, Inc. and Mr. Ludovico Badoy, Executive Director, NHI as co-convenors.
