MANAGERS' COURSE (MC)

RATIONALE

It has been rightly said that a second-class business project in the hands of a first-rate manager has more chances to succeed than a first class project being handled by a second-rate leader. Indeed, a business enterprise stands to profit greatly from the planning, controlling, problem solving and decision-making skills of a well-trained and competent manager.
The Managers’ Course seeks to develop and upgrade managerial manpower among far-sighted business enterprises who are out to improve their productivity, quality and competitiveness both in the local and domestic markets.

COVERAGE

  • Fundamentals of Management. Clarifies expectations and roles of participants and presents an overview of the Philippine Business Environment as well as that of the small industry sector.
  • Marketing Management. Deals with the essentials of marketing management, designing marketing strategies and analysis of the various factors influencing the market of a firm.
  • Production/Operations Management. Discusses production/operations management tools and techniques and their application in improving productivity and upgrading product/service quality.
  • Human Resource Management. Presents concepts and current practices in human resource development and management.
  • Financial Management. Presents the basic framework of accounting and financial management as well as the tools and techniques in financial planning and control.
  • Management Information System. Presents the role of management information system in small enterprise development.
  • Strategy Formulation. Integrates all previous inputs and provides hands-on application of the concepts, tools and techniques in specific situations requiring sound judgment. Includes practical work in an actual business/industrial setting.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

In general, the course seeks to improve the organization, marketing, production, financial and information management skills of the participants.
Specifically, the participants are expected to:
  • Identify the various management tools and techniques required to improve and monitor company performance;
  • Apply management tools and techniques in problem solving and decision-making; and
  • Formulate appropriate business strategy in response to the forces in the company’s environment.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

Lecture-discussions, exercises, casework, structured learning exercises, simulations, management games and in-plant study of small and medium enterprises.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

The course is designed for those individuals who are responsible for managerial decisions e.g. entrepreneurs, actual and prospective managers, planners, administrators and staff personnel.
