Canon 983

Abstract:

The Canon 983 states that the sacramental seal is inviolable; that priests are not allowed to reveal what they heard during the confession to anyone even if it means their death and the death of others. Violating the rule means excommunication from the church.
The confessional has always been a place where troubled souls, people go to share their problems. It is where they unload whatever is bothering them and a place where they generally receive some form of enlightenment from their worries.
The film looks at how the confessional sometimes goes against its original design. If its main purpose is to help people, in this film it looks at how the rule becomes the reason as to how a priest can become powerless when certain problems arise.
The Law becomes the reason as to why our main character becomes paralyzed when it comes to helping his friends who come to the confessional. The system gives limitations on doing something good and gives emotional burden to the confessor.
