WILFREDO I. JOSE, PhD (DocWillyJoe) is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines where he teaches several graduate and undergraduate courses. Prof. Jose obtained his BS Chemical Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology in 1969, MS Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines in 1976, and M. Phil. and PhD from Rutgers University in 1983 and 1984, respectively. He placed first in the Chemical Engineering Board Examination in 1969 and was conferred the Outstanding Chemical Engineer of the Year Award in 2007 by the Professional Regulations Commission. Before teaching at the University of the Philippines, he was employed as a Confidential Technical Assistant at the Research and Development Center of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Working on explosives and pyrotechnics with limited resources, he was able to complete his research projects by improvisation and implementing his own technique in creativity. Finding the basis of his technique on creativity in order that others can use it became his passion. After more than four decades of searching and researching, he is now ready to present his technique to the world.
The Greatest Idea: An Idea that Creates New Ideas
My passion is Probing Paradigms for Generating Ideas. A paradigm refers to a model, theory, map, perception, etc. The paradigm of a profession is the knowledge that defines or guides that profession. To probe paradigms, we study, analyze, and thoroughly explore them; we find insights, perspectives, points of view, etc.; we systematically organize and map the ideas in our brain (a powerful neural network computer); and we connect ideas within paradigms, to come up with new ideas. I applied this to formulate teaching strategies/innovations, design new processes/devices, and develop new courses. Best of all, it is applicable to any discipline.
