College of Arts and Letters Library

The College of Arts and Letters Library located at the ground floor of CAL New Building is the newest unit attached to the College.

The library used to be the Humanities and General Reference Section of the Main Library. In 1989, the Humanities Section became a separate section and was designated as the library of the College of Arts and Letters. The name was later changed to Arts and Letters Section. The new Library was formally inaugurated on 5 December 2005.

Mission and Vision

Mission: The mission of the CAL Library is to provide information services in support of the teaching, research and extension programs of the College. It carries out its function by selecting, acquiring, developing, organizing, maintaining, preserving and making available relevant and up-to-date information resources.

Vision: As the resource center of information, it seeks to promote the academic and professional growth of CAL faculty, staff and students by providing timely and fast access to various formats of useful information from the library’s collections and outside resources. Lending Hours are available from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 nn on Saturdays. Lending, Clearance and Reserve desks are open by 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 nn and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday and 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 nn on Saturday.

Collection

The library collection consists of basic reading and reference materials for courses offered in the college and related materials in literature, languages, music and fine arts. It has:

Research Services and Facilities

Its research services and facilities include an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), CDS/ISIS and MAELISA softwares, document delivery, interlibrary loan, circulation and reserve books, photocopy, referral and book request services.
