Bukluran ng mga Iskolar-Atleta Tungo sa Progresibong Aksyon (Bonded Scholar-Athletes Towards Progressive Action), better known as BATAK-CHK, is a socio-political organization based in the College of Human Kinetics in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

As a proud member organization and affiliate political party of KAISA - Nagkakaisang Iskolar para sa Pamantasan at Sambayanan, BATAK is grounded on the principles of inclusive activism, academic excellence with social relevance, and political awareness and political involvement.

BATAK aims to empower the student-athletes by promoting their rights and welfare, and to unite them towards realizing our vision of CHK as the premier institute of Human Movement Sciences that primarily exists to serve the country by advancing the state of sports and physical education.

Inspired by the Olympic motto: Citius, Altius, Fortius, BATAK's mission is to have faster action on issues, higher goals for the College of Human Kinetics, stronger admin-faculty-student relationships-- as a united College of Human Kinetics.

History

Principles

BATAK members brand themselves as Iskolar-Atleta (scholar athletes) and its orientation is centered in these following principles:

  • Inclusive Activism (Bukluran)

We seek to balance free discourse on one hand, and decisive action on another, such that principles and positions are open to deliberation and reflection, and the practice of decisive action will not be constrained. We are activists because we espouse a proactive stance on relevant issues and concerns, but we are also inclusive because we seek not to include only our fellow proponents, but to appeal to the society at large, to rally others to our call.

  • Academic Excellence with Social Relevance (Iskolar-Atleta)

Recognizing that more than just being student-athletes, we are Iskolar ng Bayan given the opportunity to study in the nation's premier University. We excel not only in our respective sports, but show competence in academics and socio-political involvement.

  • Responsive Leadership Towards Student Empowerment (Progresibong Aksyon)

Inspired by the principle of Progressive Overload for physical conditioning, we pursue long-term actions on issues. We intensify our efforts for the improvement of the College of Human Kinetics and the achievement of our goal to be the country's forefront in Sports Science and Physical Education.
