"DAANG PABALIK"
ABSTRACT
DAANG PABALIK tells a story about MAIYA who has already experienced independence at a young age. Her mother left her to her grandmother, NELLY, when she was still 10. Soon to be 21, Maiya undergoes fear of growing up and anxieties of letting go of her childhood. Due to this, Maiya continuously searches for a mother figure. As she receives a letter from her mother asking to meet her, she decides to go on a journey to search for her. However, a little girl joins Maiya on her journey. Together, they hope to find acceptance for the past and courage for the future.
The film focuses on the transition to adulthood and fear of growing up. The framework used for this narrative followed the concept of psychoanalysis specifically the structural model of personality which focuses on three elements: id, ego, and superego. The film also follows the ‘social psychology of experience’, focusing on the factors of how people remember and tend to forget.
