Welcome template

Oh, yes yes. We can use it now. Just insert the code {{welcome}} on top of a user's talk page, and everything will be fine. Those red links, through our extensive cooperation, we shall pulled them out. --Jmtirao 16:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Wait, I think there are some problem. The name doesn't appear. I hope I can fix this tomorrow. I do not know why that happened, the template works well on its own page and also to my page.--Jmtirao 16:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Main Page

Do you have further information about DILC, iskWiki or any stuff that you would like to be inserted on the main page? I think I need it now, and I'll try my best to do a better layout for our main page. Good luck for us. --Jmtirao 05:39, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

re: Main Page

Hi! I think the DILC services part can well be a part of a separate template for DILC. In addition to the DILC services already indicated in the main page, isktreaming is coming up. Thanks for your kind attention to this. Iskwiki.admin 08:14, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

.ogg and other music files (a bug?)

Thanks for the info. I tried to upload .ogg and .mp3 versions of UP Naming Mahal. It seems good, but the files cannot play for itself. When I tried to insert those to UP Naming Mahal article page, it just gives us a internal link which directs the user/reader/viewer into the location of the file, not actually playing the file. I believe that if we could fix this a little bit more, it may help the site to become more efficient (users will not go externally just to listen those songs or something like that). Though I uploaded two UP Naming Mahal with two different file extensions, I decided not to put the links to the page temporarily. Thanks a lot! --Jmtirao 10:29, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

The welcome template

Hi! Thanks for the effort of inserting {{welcome}} template to the pages of new users. Maybe we should insert the template on the user's talk page so that they may be notified that they received a new message, not on the user page, because I do believe that it is reserved for the user's description on himself. Maybe red links of new users will direct us to go into the user's page (if we look down on the tabs below that site). If that happens, we may consider clicking the "discussion" button and plug there the template; thus they will never know that somebody send them a welcome note. in this way, new users may be notified that they received new message that shows our welcome note to him. In any way, thanks for the effort. i am still finding ways as soon as possible to incorporate new ideas to the template, as well as successfully create all the pages linking to such template. Good luck! --Jmtirao 13:07, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Marketing

What do you think, if we create an individual article in Wikipedia describing iskWiki, and inserting it at UP page there and navigation box?--Jmtirao 12:37, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

re: Marketing

Great idea! Please go ahead. THANK YOU! Iskwiki.admin 13:39, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

What do you think of this?

re: What do you think?

The overall layout is nice. But I'm not sure if another iskwiki masthead is necessary. Perhaps an iskWiki community icon is needed instead. The "This week in history" section is already in the Main Page. I think you got it right. But the "Featuring..." part is necessary, I think, since that will allow us just to pick from other pages or resources with more flexibility. The Featured Article in the Main Page is great. But another more community oriented feature section in the Community Portal will be a good complement to the Main Page feature as well.

"UP and the World" is perhaps our only window for the Alumni and the larger public. UP is a public enterprise. Naturally it extends beyond its immediate physical boundaries and social life.

At any rate, nobody can thank you enough for generously sharing your time and talent in making iskWiki a truly UP wiki.

New welcome template

Hi! I modified the Template:Welcome into its new daughter, Template:Welcome1 (don't ask who is her father! hehehe).

On the new welcome template, the welcomer's name was included when it is applied to the a new user's discussion page. If you insert the syntax {{welcome1|date}}, it will give the same welcome template as Template:Welcome. You may want to insert the date when you put the template to the discussion page. When using Template:Welcome1, remember that putting dates are compulsory, meaning you are forced to insert dates because the template will give you only {{{1}}} if you do not give dates =) (bad english). Anyway. I noticed that on the previous template, the date is variable, it changes as the local internet time changes. Also, it does not include the signature of the welcomer. ^_^

Example: {{welcome1|April 2009}} will give you:

Hello, Iskwiki.admin! Welcome to iskWiki!. Thank you for your contributions. Following some of the links below will help you get the most out of iskWiki. If you have any questions, you can ask me on my talk page, or place {{help}} on your talk page and ask your questions there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by typing four tildes "~~~~". This will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. Happy editing!

All includes the signature and date. We are looking forward for future modifications with some templates, hehehe. Thanks. --Jmtirao 15:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
