GREAT IDEAS.ph PROJECT LAUNCHED IN UP DILIMAN

Everything starts with an idea; great things, with "great ideas.

The Great Ideas.ph Project is mounted by the UP Diliman Interactive Learning Center (DILC), in partnership with academic units and student organizations. It is designed to highlight a diversity of great ideas, including those which propelled Filipino companies to success or drove best practices in the industry, at its online portal and through a series of events.

The "Great Ideas dot PH" will serve as an online portal where institutions and organizations can document and share their best peer-reviewed ideas. These documents can be used by schools and other institutions for their instructional purposes since compelling materials discussing great ideas are good conversation starters and educational resources.

As ideas are not limited by arbitrary disciplinary boundaries, the Project fosters scholarly collaboration and exchange of ideas, which makes the "Great Ideas dot PH" a good platform to promote interdisciplinary commerce that will directly benefit public school libraries in Metro Manila and other provinces.

Multimedia packets of locally produced educational materials will be distributed to less privileged educational institutions. Resources generated will also support the training program of the UP Diliman Interactive Learning Center (DILC) for the UP faculty and other constituents.

The Project also engages the public in an educational experience of celebrating great ideas with our top University professors.

Through the Great Ideas.ph Project (www.greatideas.ph), five UP professors will be chosen by the students, faculty and staff. These UP teachers, who will be considered as the top five professors of UP Diliman, are to speak at "This is UP! - the Great Ideas Symposium" on October 6, 2010, 2pm, Malcolm Theater, College of Law, UP Diliman. The Symposium is a celebration of great ideas, where each of the five professors speaks for 10 mins. regarding subjects and research projects they are most passionate about.

So far, over 400 faculty members have been nominated by over 2,300 registered voters. Nominations end on August 16 while voting ends on Sept 20.
