Abstract
This thesis revolves around Doctor Who, a British Science-fiction program which depicts the adventures of a humanoid alien, the Doctor and his human companions across all of time and space. As the Doctor travels from planet to planet,from one century to another, the program has also “explored” various media and shared his story with many others in world throughout its 50-year-(and counting) long adventure. The program‟s current Filipino following has grown significantly through the aid of the internet.i
Utilizing Paul du Gay et. al‟s Circuit of Culture, Henry Jenkins‟ Transmedia Storytelling and Axel Bruns‟ Produsage as a theoretical framework, this research examined Doctor Who as a cultural artifact through the interactions of the Filipino Whovians in the Facebook group, Whovian Philippines.
The Filipino Whovians use the group to gather and spread information about the program. Through their actions and exchanges within and outside the group,Doctor Who expands its story and enriches its transmedia storytelling. These interactions also depict fans‟ fulfillment of their roles as produsers.
