This undergraduate production thesis focuses on the creation of a speculative fiction at a time where technology has given man the power to be connected and stay connected to each other. By employing Bernstein’s Elaborated and Restricted Codes, this narrative provides a different perspective of the future: set in the 2110 AD, this anti-utopian society eliminates the possibility of forming families by segregating men, women and children. Also, this thesis puts forward the dependence of people on the advanced telecommunications that has made the spoken language cease to exist. Only the ability of man to recognize and recreate sound, specifically music, leads to the reunion of a lost family tie.
