ABSTRACT
Love is a powerful emotion that propels human beings to live. Memories serve as the gems that people cling on too when a loved one passes away. Embracing the past makes the present long for affection. Sapantaha revolves on this reminiscence and the process of acceptance. Guiding the film is the Kübler-Ross model (more commonly known as The Five Stages of Grief) that describes the process of how people deal with grief and tragedy when they are undergoing a catastrophic loss.
The film centers on an old widower who seems to be stuck with the memories of his love, with fragments of her memories in existence in his dreams. His son will be facing an important moment of his life. Their father and son relationship transforms as the protagonist endeavors the acceptance of the present.
We remember in order to forget pain.
Grieve the death but do not regret the life.
