GE 1 Earth Trek
An overview of tools and techniques in the measurement, representation, analysis, management, retrieval and display of data about the earth's physical features and the built environment.
Pre-requisite: Consent of Instructor; 3 hours a week (Class); Credit 3 units

GE 10 General Surveying 1
Use of Principal Surveying instruments; surveying measurements and error theory, basic plane surveying operations and computational method of position, traverses and areas; basic cartography
Pre-requisite: Math 53; 5 hours a week (2 class, 3 lab); Credit 3 units

GE 11 Elementary Surveying
History and Development of surveying; basic concepts of and instrumentation for, surveying measurements; applications of engineering, geology, architechture and other disciplines.
Prerequisite: Math 17 or equivalent; 4 hours a week (1 class, 3 lab): Credit: 2 units

GE 12 General Surveying II
Use of geodetic instruments; horizontal and vertical controls; topographic, hydrographic and mine surveying operations; introduction to practical astronomy.
Prerequisite: GE 10; 8 hours a week (2 class, 6 lab): Credits 4 units

Common Coordinates and reference systems; general theory and construction of major map projection systems; map distortions; the Philippine Plance Coordinate System

GE 38 Digital Cartography

GE 117 Construction and Industrial Surveying
Geometry and layout of horizontal and vertical transition curves for highways and railroads; profiles; cross sections; earthwork computations; layout of industrial infrastructures.

Survey project controls; comparative equipment, procedures and precision; regulations governing property surveys in the country, transformation of coordinates to the Philippine Plane Coordinate System, PRS 1992

GE 143 Laws on Natural Resources
Pertinent provisions of the Civil Code on property and its ownership; study of mining law, petroleum act, coal land act, modes of acquiring mineral lands; public land laws; forest laws; and other relevant laws.

Requisites for contracts; obligations of contracting parties; nullity and enforcement of contract; study of actual cases involving contracts.

Principles of geographic information systems; GIS data structures; basic database concepts; data generation, input and output; spatial data analysis and modelling techniques; raster-based analysis, vector-based analysis; integrated analysis, terrain analysis; visualization for GIS

GE 161 Geometric Geodesy
Historical development; geometry of reference ellipsoid; determination of ellipsoid from geodetic data, geodetic coordinates; direct and inverse problems; astro-geodetic deflections of the vertical

GE 163 Geodetic Levelling and Hydrography
Precise determination of elevations; tidal datum planes; soundings and precision determination; precise hydrographic instruments; hydrographic mapping.

GE 164 Geodetic Surveying
Principles of establishment and densification of horizontal geodetic control networks; triangulation, trilateration and traverse; baseline measurements; instruments, procedures and specifications.

GE 166 Geodetic Astronomy
Stellar coordinate systems, positions and motions, precise determination of astronomic azimuth, latitude, longitude and time; instrumentation.

GE 170 Object-oriented Programming for Geodetic Engineering Applications
Object-oriented Programming (OOP); basic and derived data types; dynamic memory allocation, classes, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, function and operator overloading; graphical user interfaces (GUI); File I/O; printing; database programming.

GE 171 Geodetic Computations and Adjustment I
Frequency distributions, simple probability theory, classification and propagation of errors; theory of least squares; weight observation and condition equations; variances and covariances; adjustment methods.
Pre-requisite: GE 170, GE 161; 6 hours a week (3lec, 3lab); Credit: 4 units

GE 172 Geodetic Computations and Adjustment II
Combination of observation and condition equations; sequential solutions and iterations; statistical testing; empirical fitting of polynomials.

GE 174 Satellite Positioning Systems
Introduction and overview of satellite positioning systems; segments of satellite positioning systems; differential global positioning systems; erro sources; orbit description; carrier phase observation; modes of positioning; data processing; ambiguity resolution; geoid modelling; network adjustment; surveying and mapping applications; future of satellite geodesy.

GE 178 Digital Photogrammetry
Stereo and mono photogrammetry; flight plannning; aerial photography; stereoscopy; properties of single photographs; theory of orientation; aerial triangulation; digital terrain model data collection and image rectification; mosaicking; surveying and mapping applications.

GE 179 Remote Sensing and Image Interpretation
Remote sensing in the context of Geomatics; Physical basis of remote sensing; Interaction of electromagnetic energy with the atmosphere and the Earth's surface; Sensors and platforms; Landsat, SPOT and other Earth observation Programs; Elements of visual image interpretation; Digital nature of remotely sensed data; Digital image processing algorithms; Remote sensing-based mapping; Applications of remote sensing.
