8-8 is the New Date for the OVCRD Colloquium and Fair 2012

Following the success of the Colloquium held last 16 January 2012, the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) will host the Colloquium and Fair on 8 August 2012 at the National Institute of Physics (NIP), National Science Complex, UP Diliman. The two events of 2012 carry the theme Paliwanagan sa UP Diliman, reflecting their common aim of increasing UP Diliman constituents’ awareness and appreciation of the research and development (R&D) initiatives in the various units of the university. While the January Colloquium focused on presentations by UP Diliman researchers and creative workers, the forthcoming Colloquium and Fair will involve exhibits of creations and inventions as well.
The Colloquium will feature 16 researches and creative works that were funded through the PhD Incentive Award and the Outright Research Grant programs of the OVCRD. This event, like the January Colloquium, will serve as a venue for UP Diliman constituents in the various disciplines to share information, insights and experiences. This sharing of research and information is envisioned to lead to greater and stronger inter- and cross-disciplinary collaborations. The Fair will feature, by popular demand, UP Diliman’s Science and Technology exhibition for the 2012 National Science and Technology Week. This exhibit showcases 14 creations and inventions through interactive setups that are complemented with engaging panel display explanations. Also to be displayed are the activities and outputs of selected R&D partners. The Fair aims to make research and development a concrete experience for all, especially for the undergraduate students who are just starting to get acquainted with the R&D programs in the university.
