To Do or Not To Do? The Effects of Imbestigador on Its Viewers' Decisions and Actions: An Audience Study

Imbestigador has been labelled as the longest running investigative program on Philippine television. Despite this fact, there is not much attention given to its effects on Filipino audiences. This study was conducted to determine the effects of the program to its viewers especially on their choices, decisions and actions. Using the Health Belief Model (HBM) as the framework for this study, the researcher analyzed the behavioral change process that the viewers gone through and how it can alter their activities. The researcher conducted interviews among the regular viewers of the program. There were 12 people who came from different cities of Metro Manila who participated for this study. It was concluded that the strongest drive for change was primarily their health and safety. The study also includes the participants’ reaction to the threat presented to them by the program and how these threats altered their activities.
