The uploading of theses or thesis abstracts is governed by the Revised Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of the University of the Philippines System and by further stipulations by the different academic units concerned. The Office of the President, in particular, has issued the memo on Public Access to Theses, Dissertations and Defense Proceedings for immediate and strict compliance. A supplementary Guidelines for Public Access to Theses and Dissertations has also been issued by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development.

Licensing theses under the Creative Commons may also be considered by certain parties, subject to the relevant policies of the University.
