Acad Oval
The "Acad Oval" or the "Academic Oval" is the oval-shaped road that goes around the Oblation statue, Quezon Hall, the Lagoon, AS Parking Lot, the Main Library and the Sunken Garden. The buildings that surround the acad oval are the College of Mass Communication (CMC), College of Music, College of Engineering (Eng), College of Law, College of Economics (Econ), College of Business Administration (BA), Vinzon's Hall, College of Education (Educ), Palma Hall or the building of Arts and Sciences (AS), the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) and the Vargas Museum. All jeepney routes (Katipunan, Pantranco, Philcoa,SM North, Ikot and Toki) pass through the acad oval. It is measured 2.2 kilometers long and has 16 humps. The acad oval is divided into 2 parts. The left side of the road is provided for people who are either jogging, running, walking or cycling while the right side of the road is the only part for vehicles. The acad oval is only one-way in direction (counter-clockwise).
The acad oval is a venue for various activities. It is, for the most part, a place for physical activities and recreation. People- outsiders, residents and students alike walk, jog, run and do cycling on the acad oval. A lot of Physical Education (PE) classes like "walking for fitness" and "running" do exercise on this road.
On special occasions like the UP Fair, parts of the acad oval are closed as to prevent interference and heavy traffic while for events like the Lantern Parade, the entire acad oval is blocked because it then becomes the route for floats to parade on.
