Music has played a major role in the media industry and it is still considered as one of the most influential mediums today. Some artists have discovered the power of music and are now using it as a way to get their personal advocacies across. A perfect example of this is Beyonce Knowles. Beyonce recently released her self-titled visual album containing songs and videos that promote a type of feminism that is unknown to many. Through interviewing one hundred fifty Filipina college students from three different universities, this study aims to determine how listeners consume Beyonce’s music and whether or not a song can be a reliable medium when it comes to delivering messages, in this case, of women empowerment.
