The OEC is a staff unit under the UP Diliman's Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
The OEC's primary functions are:
- To coordinate the extension activities of operating UPD units;
- To generate data and other information needed for planning purposes or policy formulation; and
- To enforce policies, rules, standards and basic procedures of extension services.
It also facilitates the local and international linkages of UP Diliman, as well as, the university's international student exchange program.

Recent Events:
- August 31, 2011, Seminar of Economics Majors of Chuo University (Japan), Balay Kalinaw --
Eighteen students from the Chuo University presented a seminar regarding their study proposals on Health and Sanitation in the Philippines at the Balay Kalinaw. Their studies were classified into four topics, namely, Infectious Disease, Maternal and Child Health, Water and Sanitation, and Food and Nutrition. The students are under the supervision of Prof. Mitsuhiro Hayashi. Discussants on the part of the University of the Philippines are the Community Development 1 students of Prof. Victor Obedicen, who also gave his insights at the end of the seminar.
- August 17, 2011, Closing Ceremony of the Intensive English Program for the Woosong University students, CAL Audio-Visual Room, Bulwagang Rizal --
Fifteen students from the College of Health and Welfare of the Woosung University (South Korea) completed their three-weeks Intensive English program at UP Diliman last August 17, 2011. The Department of English and Comparative Literature conducted a brief ceremony to close the program. Ms. Seo Da Un and Ms. Kim Dong Hee gave the response and their impressions in behalf of their classmates.

The OEC, together with the College of Social Work and Development, (CSWCD) and the UP Tomo-Kai Club, express their gratitude to those who participated in the said event and who have shown their support to our friends in Japan.
