Hernando "Jethro" Siy Salapare III (born March 4, 1984) is an instructor of physics [1] at the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. He teaches Physics 71 (Mechanics of Particles, Rigid Bodies, and Fluids) and Physics 71.1 (Elementary Physics Laboratory I) for the past 2 years. He is currently the Assistant College Secretary of the College of Science, University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. Salapare obtained his BS Applied Physics and MS Physics degrees from the University of the Philippines in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He was awarded the 2008 Leticia Shahani Award for Best Undergraduate Thesis in Applied Physics and the 2010 Most Outstanding Master of Science Graduate of the College of Science, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently taking his PhD in Physics also at the College of Science, the University of the Philippines. Salapare is recently elected as a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). Among the principal mandates of NRCP is the provision of assistance for the development of the research capabilities of Filipino scientists. It also acts as an advisory body in select priority sectors to the national government on problems and issues affecting the country [2].


Salapare is a junior staff of the Plasma Physics Laboratory [3], National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines Diliman. He had several publications in ISI-indexed journal [4], international circulated book [5], and proceedings of local conferences in Physics [6] related to his work on Biomedical Applications of Plasma Physics.
