Inadequacy and non-conformance with the required standards of construction materials will result to poor quality works, thereby compromising safety and durability. It is therefore essential that materials undergo strict quality testing and control. This will ensure the efficient implementation of the construction project, since costly delays brought about by substandard materials and improper testing and sampling procedures will be avoided. Knowledge of testing procedures and quality assurance measures is therefore needed to ensure the attainment of a systematic and satisfactory construction work that will conform to the desired standards and performance criteria.

The seminar aims to:

• Provide the participants with concepts of quality control in construction materials. • Discuss the testing procedures for different construction materials. • Familiarize the participants with the tasks and responsibilities involved in materials sampling and testing.
