The National Youth Congress (NYC) is one of the largest annual gatherings of high school students that aims to empower the most promising high school students from both private and public schools in a seminar-workshop in economics. It acquaints the student with basic economic concepts as can be applied and seen in today’s context. The NYC hosts about 250-350 participants from over 40 public and private high schools across Metro Manila and regions. Speakers are from the prominent names in the field of economics, media, as well as experts on timely issues at hand. It is a collaborative effort between two of the leading student organizations in the University of the Philippines Diliman – the UP Economics Society [1] (UP EcoSoc) and the UP School of Economics Student Council [2] (UP SESC).
