History
The UP Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Association or the UP 49ers has been one of the most established student organizations in the University of the Philippines - Diliman since 1954.
The UP 49ers differs radically from other societies because we are not plain acquaintances. We redefine friend and family. We live with a true sense of kinship. There is an establishment of fraternal obligation. We build up lifelong bonds which aid the development of the members, helping them to be capable professionals of the country and be supportive individuals to the fellow youth, inside and outside the UP community. We know when and how to have fun.
We don’t need to say that we are the best.
We are Fortyniners.

Cliptomania
Cliptomania is the much-anticipated annual movie quiz show organized by UP 49ers as part of the organization's anniversary celebration.
Now on its eleventh year, Cliptomania enters a new decade to continue promoting camaraderie among the students and different organizations, now not just throughout UP but also to other universities as well.
Chemistry 16 Review
As an academic organization, UP 49ers holds Chemistry 16 review as better preparation for the freshmen's long exam.
Outreach
In the earlier years, UP 49ers conducts medical missions within the UP campus as social awareness. This year, in cooperation with Isang Litrong Liwanag, UP 49ers will hold an outreach in Dagohoy.
National Mining and Metallurgical Engineering Summit
Initiated two years ago, the National Mining and Metallurgical Engineering Summit aims to create an open learning environment among the mining and metallurgical students from various universities all over the Philippines.
