UP Students of Destiny

Members

SOD is a recognized student organization not just in UP Diliman but also in several campuses along the metro - to name a few, UP Manila, Ateneo de Manila, University of Santo Tomas, Adamson University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Unibersidad de Manila. In UP Diliman alone, there are 300 strong SOD members.

Activities

One of the beliefs that SOD stands on is that "If we change the campus, we change the world", seeing that many of the next leaders of the nation will be coming from the generation of students in the campuses and universities of the country, and they will definitely carry the values they have cultivated in school into their leadership. Hence, the group focuses on the holistic formation of each student. Through weekly meetings that aim to mentor and guide each student, the organization encourages each scholar "to live a life of excellence and leadership." SOD's activities aim "to inspire and motivate students to live out their calling and become the young men and women that God created them to be."

LIFE Groups

LIFE groups are weekly, one-hour meetings headed and conducted by the resident members of SOD. Here, life principles are juxtaposed with biblical concepts not just for the sake of information, but for students to have foundation on which they can live their lives to succeed. Students are also encouraged to socialize and to have people help them with their daily walk as students, as young Filipinos, and as future leaders.

LIFE Party

SOD strongly believes that "even when life becomes too stressful because of piling-up academic requirements, problems at home, or lack in finances, LIFE is still meant to be a party!" With this in light, the organization holds a weekly gathering of young people from UP Diliman, UP Manila, and other campuses all over the metro "to celebrate life, gain insight and encouragement from God’s word, and have fun!" SOD's Life Parties are held every Tuesday, 6pm [for UP Manila] and Thursday, 6pm [for UP Diliman].

Making History at the UP Fair 2012

During the 2012 UP Fair, SOD handled one night during the week-long open-air concert series. Entitled KontraKultura: A Date With Destiny, the night raised UP Fair standards and made history - selling out 11,000 tickets, utilizing state-of-the-art production and sound equipment, and featuring Gary Valenciano alongside several Christian artist like Yeng Constantino, Gloc9, Kitchie Nadal, and Barbie Almalbis, to name a few.
