Jalton Garces Taguibao is Assistant Professor at the Department of the Political Science, College of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines-Diliman.
Background
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Major in Political Science in 1998, from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. In 2001, he completed the required coursework units in the Master of Arts in Political Science Program, however, proceeded to work as a full time faculty at the University of Asia and the Pacific (2002-2004). From 2005-2010 he became a full time faculty of the Political Science Program, Department of Social Science at the University of the Philippines-Manila. In 2010, he graduated with a Masters degree in Public Management from the University of the Philippines-Manila (UP Manila).
In March of 2010, Prof. Taguibao resigned from UP Manila to pursue further studies. He was accepted in the PhD in Political Science Program at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Upon his return to Diliman, he served as Senior Lecturer in Political Science during the first semester of academic year 2010-2011 and proceeded as a full-time assistant professor the semester after. Currently, Asst. Prof. Taguibao is in the process of completing his PhD. Recently, he has published two peer-reviewed academic journal articles on Renewable Energy development in the Philippines (2010), and on the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (2012).
Upon completion of his PhD coursework, he intends to write a dissertation on Philippine Energy and Technology Politics, particularly, on Renewable Energy Development in the Philippines.
Besides his academic life, Asst. Prof. Jalton Taguibao is also a musician, arranger, and composer.
