Academic Programs
The Department of Sociology offers undergraduate Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy programs.
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology The BA Sociology program is designed to be completed in four years. It consists of general education courses in the freshmen and sophomore years and coursework in Sociology and related courses in the junior and senior years. Students are expected to complete 140 units of general education and Sociological courses to graduate from the program.
Master of Arts in Sociology
The MA Sociology Program is designed to be completed in two years for full time students and a maximum of five years for part time students. To graduate from the program, students are expected to complete 33 units of graduate work:
Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology
The PhD in Sociology consists of 36 units of graduate work for students who have an MA in Sociology and 63 units for those who completed their Masters in a field other than Sociology.
