HERNANDO "Jethro" SIY SALAPARE III (born March 4, 1984, Tigaon, Camarines Sur) is a former instructor of Physics [1] at the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. Salapare obtained his BS Applied Physics and MS Physics degrees from the University of the Philippines in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He was awarded the 2008 Leticia Shahani Award for Best Undergraduate Thesis in Applied Physics and the 2010 Most Outstanding Master of Science Graduate of the College of Science, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently taking his Doctor of Philosophy in Physics at the College of Science, the University of the Philippines and at the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis (Nice, France). Salapare was elected as a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). Among the principal mandates of NRCP is the provision of assistance for the development of the research capabilities of Filipino scientists. It also acts as an advisory body in select priority sectors to the national government on problems and issues affecting the country [2]. Salapare is also a regular member of the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines).

Jethro Salapare

Salapare is a junior staff of the Plasma Physics Laboratory [3], National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines Diliman. He had several publications in ISI-indexed journal [4], international circulated book [5], and proceedings of local conferences in Physics [6] related to his work on Biomedical Applications of Plasma Physics. The dissertation adviser of Jethro is a world renowned plasma physicist,Dr. Henry J. Ramos.

Salapare is currently at Nice, France for a 10 months scholarship program (November 2011 - September 2012) under the Erasmus Mundus Mobility with Asia (EMMA)Consortium of the Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis (UNS). The scholarship is an “exchange student/sandwich” program for PhD students funded by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in behalf of the European Commission.
