Title: Brownout sa Neighborhood namin That Day

ABSTRACT

Figuerres, J.D.E. (2011) Brownout sa Neighborhood namin That Day, Unpublished Undergraduate Thesis, University of the Philippines, College of Mass Communication.

This undergraduate thesis explores the boredom and hypocrisy of the middle-class and how repressive the middle-class lifestyle is. The narrative of the film is framed by Surrealism, Dreams as Wish Fulfillment and Sikolohiyang Pilipino (Filipino Psychology). The idiosyncratic manner in which the Filipino middle-class deals with particular family issues serves as context for the film's story. The middle-class setting plays an important role on the behavior of the characters of the film.
