National Educators Summit

The National Educators Summit (NES) is an initiative spearheaded by the Education and Research Committee of the UP College of Education Student Council. The project generally aims to look into the various issues and developments in the education sector of the country.

In 2019, the UP College of Education Student Council, in celebration of the college’s centennial founding anniversary, conducted Handog: Centennial Educators Summit and Advocacy Fair. The summit brought together student-leaders, educators, and aspiring educators in one momentous gathering and discussed pertinent issues surrounding the different facets of education in the country.

In 2020, amidst and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the UP CESC conducted the Walang Iwanan: Education in the New Normal webinar series. The project engaged different stakeholders in the discussion of the current state of education in the country, how it was affected by the pandemic, and how the state shall respond given the issues faced by the sector. The event was participated by public and private school teachers, local government units, non-government organizations, representatives from the Congress, and the Office of the Vice President. Aside from the consolidation of insights for lobbying purposes, "Walang Iwanan" was able to garner PHP60,000+ worth of donations for underprivileged students of the College, 5,000+ registered participants, and 70,000+ organic webinar views. The project was conducted in partnership with 50+ organizations nationwide.

In 2021, after the first year of the implementation of the remote learning setup, the UP CESC envisioned an avenue where educational stakeholders from all over the country can look into how the Philippine Education System has developed one year into distance learning, and how we can address the issues and concerns that have sprung since then.
