Overheard at UP is a group in Facebook intended as a platform for sharing experiences and stories ranging from love stories to quotable quotes from professors and students alike, from the funny to the scary, from serious discussions to crazy exchange of ideas. The group is open to all UP and non-UP people.
History and Demography
The group was formed by Christian Rillera on February 19, 2010. The group was inspired by the creation of "Overheard" groups by universities in the US where students share their experiences, post announcements, and advertise in-campus events.
As of this writing, the group has over 52,000 members composed of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and alumni from the University of the Philippines, System and other schools. A significant portion of the population is composed of students and alumni of University of the Philippines, Los Banos while the amount of members from University of the Philippines, Diliman comes in at second. This statistics are based on a tally in the group which has long been inactive.
