Jalton Garces Taguibao is Assistant Professor at the Department of the Political Science, College of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines-Diliman (as of November 3, 2010). He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Major in Political Science in 1998, from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

In 2001, he completed coursework units in the Master of Arts in Political Science Program, however, proceeded to work as a full time faculty at the University of Asia and the Pacific (2002-2004) and the University of the Philippines-Manila (2005-2010). He graduated with a Masters degree in Public Management from the University of the Philippines-Manila in 2010.

==Background==
Assistant Professor Jalton Taguibao graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, and a Masters degree in Public Management from the University of the Philippines Manila. He served as Teaching Associate at the Department of Political Science in UP Diliman before working as a Full time faculty member at the University of Asia and the Pacific from 2002-2004. In 2005, he joined the Department of Social Science at the University of the Philippines-Manila as a Full time faculty member. In 2010, he returned to the Department of Political Science, UP Diliman as Assistant Professor. <br/>


Currently, Asst. Prof. Taguibao is PhD student in Political Science from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Upon completion of his PhD coursework He intends to write a dissertation on Philippine Energy and Environmental Politics, particularly, Renewable Energy Development in the Philippines. Asst. Prof. Taguibao's research interests include Media Politics, Political Economy and Technology Politics.
Apart from his engagements in the academe, Prof. Jalton Taguibao is a Research and Project Manager at the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability-East Asia and the Pacific. He also serves as policy consultant, lecturer, and trainer at the Development Academy of the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and Arts and the National Defense College of the Philippines. <br/>


Prof. Taguibao is currently a PhD Candidate in Political Science, completing his dissertation research on Renewable Energy Policy. He has also previously completed postgraduate courses at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany.


Asst. Prof. Jalton Taguibao is also a musician, arranger and composer.
