			On September 12, 1981, the pioneer organization in UP School of Statistics was born. The Board of Directors upon its foundation was composed of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Business Manager, Education and Research Division Manager, Personnel Division Manager, and the Public Relations Division Manager. The first adviser of UP StatSoc was Dr. Ana Maria L. Tabunda. She is currently one of the Executive Directors of Pulse Asia and also a professor at the School of Statistics.

			In 1982, Stat-is-Eeks!, an inter-university Statistics quiz show was introduced. And its very 1st champion was no wonder, a Statistics major, namely Ms. Julie M. Ico.

			In 1985, the very 1st Amendment in the Constitution came about. The line up of the Board of Directors was changed and is now composed of the President, Internal VP, External VP, Secretary, and the chairpersons of the six standing committees namely: Communications, Education and Research, External, Finance, Internal, and Personnel. In the same year, Peggy Mae Hwang graduated as UP Diliman’s Valedictorian. She was the second Summa Cum Laude from UP StatSoc.
			Also, the 1st male president of the UP StatSoc was elected in 1985 in the person of Mr. Nicco Emmanuel de Jesus.

			In 1987, Stat-is-Eeks! became an inter-university Statistics quiz show for non-statistics majors and have continually drawn interest from the prestigious colleges and universities around Metro Manila and nearby provinces such as Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, and Pampanga. It was first held in the Nicanor Abelardo Theater.

			In 1998, the 1st issue of the Alternative Hype, the official organization newsletter was published with Ms. Judy Mina as the first Editor-in-Chief.

			In the summer of 2005, UP StatSoc ranked 1st in the Freshmen Orientation Program Committee Race with 255,168 points, almost 50,000 points from the second placer. UP StatSoc became the UP Freshmen Orientation Program Committee Chair Organization from 2005-2007.

			February 2006, The first ever university-wide Stat-en-Ek-ek was launched. In the second semester of A.Y. 2006-2007, the UP StatSoc Song, entitled “From Now On”, was composed by the then applicant Ms. Erika Joy Valmonte for their Applicant’s Night presentation.

			In line with UP StatSoc’s 25th founding anniversary, Mynard Bryan Mojica was named UP StatSoc’s Silver Scholar. He was a member of Education and Research committee and was a consistent university scholar.

			In 2007, UP StatSoc placed 2nd in the first ever UPSTAGE, a dance competition among UP Orgs. In December 2008, UP StatSoc participated for the first time in AWITAN, a chorale competition hosted by UP KEM wherein UP StatSoc placed 4th.

The UP Statistical Society, established in 1981, is a well-renowned student organization in the University of the Philippines dedicated to promoting awareness and enhancing interest in the field of Statistics and aiding in its members intellectual and social development among the School of Statistics studentry and other sectors of the UP community.
