The Office of the Chancellor has appointed Atty. John S. Baroña as Acting Chief Security Officer (CSO) of UP Diliman effective 18 October 2013 and until a permanent appointment is made.

Atty. Baroña is a long-time member of the UP Diliman Campus Safety and Welfare Committee. The committee is composed of the Chancellor (chairperson), the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, the CSO, the UP Diliman Police Chief, and representatives from the faculty, administrative personnel and students. Atty. Baroña is also the Administrative Officer of the Department of Military Science and Tactics.
