As television presents a reality that is devoid of related issues such as oppression and inequality, the masses tend to perceive this said reality as one that mirrors their actual experiences. In the romance mode of story-telling, we see that love can cross boundaries and divisions, and it is a concept that we rarely find in a world where classes are at constant hostility with each other. <br /> <br /> Using a grounded theory approach on textual analysis, narrative elements in the soap opera My Girl shall be examined to determine how the concepts of love and romantic relationships are portrayed in soap operas.
