After a while, Trocio and Marlon Castor decided to have the group recognized by the college and the university. The Tourism Management Society was finally born on February 9, 1996 and recognized in July 1997. Its early members composed of Mel Panganiban, Dennis Lopez, Jake Hizon, Richard Ronquillo, Mitzi Canafranca, Carly Macabuhay, and PJ Ferrer. Trocio became the first president from 1996 to mid-1997. He was followed by Castor (2nd semester 1997) and Hizon (1998). Quiz shows such as '''Quiztion Please''' and "Artourista: The Ultimate Tourism, Arts, and Pop Culture Challenge" were conducted as forms of fund-raising to finance charity contributions to certain foundations. In September 2000, the organization held for the first time the '''Business Trip''' in Holiday Inn Resort Clark Field. The Business Trip was to become the banner event of UP TMS until 2006. The primary goal of this activity was to expose students on hotel and restaurant operations. Entitled ''Business at Holiday'', the 2000 Business Trip was attended by students from the Asian Institute of Tourism and the UP College of Home Economics. It had even offered a package to Enchanted Kingdom in one of its anniversaries in the early 2000s. UP TMS participates in the University Student Council's Alternative Learning Classroom Experience (ACLE) and the UP FAIR. For it's 18th and 19th Anniversary, the organization held Indulgence 1 & 2 respectively which was a dessert buffet event free for students, faculty, and staff. This was one way to show gratitude especially to the AIT community for continued support and inspiration of the members and the org's events. In 2010, the Constitution was revised to cope with the changing conditions of the organization. Its logo was likewise changed. ==Vision and Mission== '''VISION:'''
The University of the Philippines Tourism Management Society as a prime venue for the development of future leaders of the travel and tourism industry.
'''MISSION:'''
To serve as the training ground of its members in becoming leaders of the travel and tourism industry. ==Projects== In the academic year 2009-2010, TMS tried to explore other areas of the travel and tourism industry. By the end of the first semester, it had successfully hosted an ACLE event of sports tourism in the form of a campus race. TMS, in this endeavor, collaborated with Kampo Uno, an organization which assists UP departments in their rappelling and survival CWTS. <gallery> Image:UP_TMS_Acle_09A_(49).JPG|The Tyrolean rope station Image:UP_TMS_Acle_09A_(87).JPG|The zip-line station Image:UP_TMS_Acle_09A_(145).JPG|The organizers of the event </gallery> The organization's academic service continued in the latter part of 2009-2010. It hosted a two-session seminar on research entitled ''THESIS IT''. Dr. [[Miguela Mena]], now AIT Dean, talked about the basics of quantitative research while Dr. Edieser Dela Santa was all about qualitative papers. At the AIT Week of the Institute's Student Council, TMS was chosen to organize the council's quiz show, later called as ''AMAtour: Are You Smarter than a Tourism Major?''. It was held in UP-Ayala Technohub's conference room. <gallery> Image:35713_138016829544378_100000081860199_379739_848891_n.jpg|From June to August, TMS ran a college shirt sale as part of its fundraising efforts Image:60003_435308057086_524287086_5370784_6875105_n.jpg|The TMS-HCS heritage seminar held in UP on Sept. 30, 2010 Image:MSS.PNG|A seminar for members of TMS, MSS 1 was held in partnership with Cathay Pacific Airways in August, 2010 </gallery> ==Officers== Chief Executive: Alethea Bravo Managing Director for Internal Affairs: Rielle Alcantara Managing Director for External Affairs: Marjorie Quiaoit Secretary: Donita Custodio Comptroller: Isabela Olabre Departmental Heads: Human Resource Development: Azima Esmula Finance & Marketing: Ghienel Gustilo Academics & Research: Kyel Muñoz ==Members== '''Academics and Research Department''':
Ira Keziah Co
Charmaigne Dalisay
Imee Charlee Delavin
Joyce Anne Obispo
Mimilanie Mabanta
Ian Bencio David
Jhanete Claire Co
Emmie Rose Rubin
Erika Tuazon

'''Marketing and Finance Department''':

Arvin Antonsen
Jhona Shannen Bajar
Gretchen Callejo
Andrea Melissa Therese Carreon
Jennifer Go
Cheska Angelie Llamas
Jasper Ian Manalo
Michelle Claudine Manalac
Regene Andrea Palma
Arthur Jarold Ranola
Maxeene Remulla
Jennica Mae Reyes

'''Human Resource Department''':
Rielle Alcantara
Charm Cadelina
JC Jan Cueto
Mary Justine Lomboy
Marj Quiaoit
Monica Sta.
