REINVENTIONS: A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP by Mus 399 (Seminar in Music II) with Professor [http://iskwiki.up.edu.ph/index.php/BAES%2C_JONAS_U. Jonas Baes] , PhD ... Scholars: [[Rowena Cristina Guevara]], Li Jia, Lara Katrina T. Mendoza, Pacita Narzo, Awirut Thotham 5:00 PM, Wednesday, 19 September 2012, Museum of Instruments UP College of Music, - Free Admission - In a colloquium designed to feature the liminal outlines of future dissertations, the second year PhD students of the UP College of Music bring to the table of 21st century music research stories and journeys that hail from the singing fluvial communities of Northeastern Thailand to the dancing rhythms of South Cotabato to the familiar strains of rondalla to the smoke-filled beerhouses of ambient Pinoy rock. Scoping questions of identity, transmission, tradition, and cognitive psychology, Gev, Pacit, Yo, Li, and Lara strive to nuance discussions that encompass their research interests in the last one and a half years. Join our round-table discussions and contribute to the quest of the college’s forever first batch of musicology graduate students. [[Category:Campus Events]]
