ABSTRACT The film “Balatkayo” is about a woman's journey for control. The story revolves around Cristina, a woman driven to be on top of every situation. Her life seems perfect and structured until she finds out unexpectedly that her moments of control are short- lived. In desperation, Cristina struggles to get her life back on track only to cause more disorder. In the end, she decides her fate. The film seeks to explore the concept of control. It rests upon the idea that the desire to have a certain degree of control over one’s life is a natural part of being human. For some, the possession of control becomes a deep obsession that they sublimate through different aspects of life. However, despite people’s attempts at it, there are still some things in life beyond their control. Simbulan, G. P. (2010).
