===Research=== The TWSC has a long tradition of research on critical political economy, development issues, democratization, and governance. Research is focused on the search for progressive discourses and alternative paradigms. Guided by the principles of participatory research, the main objectives of the Center's researches are to develop Third World perspectives on various issues and to translate knowledge generated in order to promote actions for change or to improve existing local actions. Central to this process of knowledge transformation is the role of social movements and civil society, which the Center works closely with. The TWSC's research agenda for the next three years is to document and analyze resistance and alternatives to neoliberal globalization in Southeast Asia and to locate spaces for policy intervention. Current Research Projects Violence, Human Rights, and Democracy in the Philippines [https://dahas.upd.edu.ph/]
[[Marcos Regime Research]]
Plaza Miranda: A History of Violence, Memories, and Pursuits of Truth
Dishonesty and Disgrace: A History of University of the Philippines’ Responses to Alleged Acts of Plagiarism Committed by Members of Its Faculty, 1908-2010
Completed Research Projects The Mass Transit System in Metro Manila: From Tranvia to MRT, 1879-2014
The UP Diliman Handbook on Academic and Authorial Integrity
Cybersex in the Anti-Development State: Labor Politics and Life Histories
The Asian Democracy Index
Toxic Biopolitics: Tracing Risk Discourses in the Philippine Cosmetics Industry
A Pilot Study of the Human Security Index in Eight Municipalities in the Philippines
Mendiola: Memory and History of a Contested Space
Consuming Piracy: Globalization, Digital Piracy, and Everyday Life
Developing a Human Security Index for the Philippines: An Exploratory Study of Human Security in Conflict Areas
Mendiola Narratives: Memories of Mobilizations and Confrontations with the State
The Decade-Long Membership of the Philippines in the World Trade Organization
Global Civil Society Movements: Dynamics in International Campaigns and National Implementation
Marxism in the Philippines
State-Civil Society Relations in the Context of Globalization (2004-2005)
Philippine Civil Society and the Globalization Discourse (2001–2003)
People’s Initiatives: Engaging the State in Local Communities in the Philippines and Thailand (2000–2001)
Philippine Democracy Agenda (1995-1997)
Policy Issues, Responses and Constituencies: Exploring State-Civil Society Relations In Policy-Making (1993–1994)
State of the Filipino People (1991–1992)
Political Dictionary for Community Organizers (1989–1991)
Development Cooperation: The Philippine Experience, 1978–1988 (1989)
Class, Clan and Coalitions: Transformation of Local Political Elites in Two Municipalities (Malabon and Navotas) (1988)
The Status of Trade Union and Democratic Rights in the Asia-Pacific Region (1986)
Transnationalization, the State and the People's Movements (1986–1987)
Transnational Corporations in the Food and Beverage Industry: Focus on Coca-Cola and McDonald's Corporations (1981–1982)
Transnational Corporations and the Philippine Banana Export Industry (1980-1981)
